Nathanial Matthews
Nathanial Matthews is currently founding partner at Adaptation Asia and CEO of TerrAvant. He has over 25 years' global experience leading resilience, water, ecosystem and agricultural programmes across more than 50 countries. His work sits at the intersection of science, finance and technology, designing investment approaches that translate climate, nature and resilience risks into capital decisions. He has mobilised more than USD 3.5 billion in public, private and blended capital.
He was previously CEO of PlanetaryX, a nature-tech fintech using satellites, AI and earth-observation data, and CEO of the Global Resilience Partnership, with earlier leadership roles at CGIAR, and in the private sector. Nate is an Expert Integrity Council Member for Science Based Targets for Nature, Expert Advisory Panel Member of the Earthshot Prize and sits on numerous boards.
He is a Visiting Professor at King's College London, holds a PhD in Geography with finance certificates from Yale and LBS, and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and The Explorers Club. He has published extensively.
