Driving Climate Action Through Water
During the 62nd Sessions of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies, held last month in Bonn, AGWA and partners brought together experts for a side event focused on the Global Goal on Adaptation - which took place two days prior. The event focused on what is needed to ensure coherence across and between thematic and policy targets, and how the implementation of the GGA framework can support Parties looking to enhance their adaptation plans, with the goal of building comprehensive societal, ecological, and economic resilience.
As COP30 approaches it is vital that water is considered as both a stand-alone theme and a cross-cutting resource under the GGA. To build water resilience and avoid maladaptation, the many dimensions of water must be factored into all the thematic and policy targets.
