Joe Younkle
Water Resilience Tracker Senior Project Officer
Joe Younkle is a Descendant of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin and a seasoned climate adaptation leader. Prior to joining AGWA, Joe served in the Biden-Harris Administration as Special Advisor for Climate Change at USAID, where he led the review of USAID's Climate Resilience and Security Implementation Plan for the Bureau of Resilience, Environment, and Food Security. Joe also served as Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Water & Science at the U.S. Department of the Interior, where he worked extensively on water and climate adaptation issues, both domestically and internationally, in addition to establishing a career-level working group to streamline coordination between 13 federal agencies on the security implications of global environmental change. Before his time in the Biden-Harris Administration, Joe worked at the National Indian Health Board and held multiple senior-level fundraising positions on political campaigns across the United States. Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
