Martin Shouler

 

Martin Shouler is the London Water Leader at Arup, a global design and engineering consultancy with over 90 offices worldwide. With over 30 years’ experience in the water sector, Martin has worked across building engineering, infrastructure, and advisory services, leading projects in design, research, and policy across diverse global contexts.

His expertise spans water supply, sanitation, sewerage, water efficiency, treatment, and infrastructure systems. Martin has represented the UK in the development of national and international water standards (BSi, EN, ISO) and is a past Chair of the Society of Public Health Engineers. He is committed to delivering urban water resilience—addressing the challenges of too much, too little, or too polluted water—and leads Arup’s City Water Resilience Approach (CWRA), which has now been deployed in over 25 cities worldwide. He also contributes to global efforts such as the Resilient Water Accelerator and the Just Transitions for Water Security initiative.

As a member of AGWA’s Strategic Advisory Committee, Martin brings deep technical knowledge and a collaborative, systems-based approach to advancing climate-resilient water management and investment.

Martin is a Freeman of the City of London.
